Reminder: Monday is Labor Day – NO SCHOOL!

 

School Smiles, a school based dental program, will be visiting Caston in September.  Their services are available to all students and staff insured and uninsured!  The treatments are provided at school and includes exams, cleanings, x-rays, sealants, fillings, and other services as needed.  If you haven’t been to the dentist lately because of time constraints or you do not have a family dentist this program may be for you!  For more information, stop by the office.

 

Homecoming T-shirt order forms are available in the guidance office and high school office.  Forms are due back with money to the guidance office by next Tuesday, September 2nd.

 

A driver’s education class will be offered at LogansportHigh School beginning in September.  For more information stop by the high school office.

 

Journalism staff has A VERY SMALL NUMBER of extra yearbooks for sale.  The first people to give Mrs. Shultz $60 may purchase these yearbooks.  

 

Any student that purchased last year’s yearbook and did not pick it up at lunchtime should stop by the high school office to pick it up.

 

There will be an FFA meeting during lunch next Tuesday, September 2nd.  Girls should bring a dessert and boys should bring chips. Drinks will be provided.


There will be a Caston Christian Club “CCC” (formerly Fellowship of Christian Athletes) call out meeting during lunch TODAY for JH and HS students.  Anyone interested in learning more should attend.  The junior high will meet in the Art room.  The High School will meet in Ms. Miller’s room.  Pizza and drinks will be provided.  If you have questions please see Mrs. Woodhouse.

 

If you have a talent you would like to share, the Caston Concert Choir is sponsoring a “Caston’s Got Talent” show on September 22nd at 7:00 pm.  Prizes will be awarded.  Entry forms and further information is available in the music room or in the HS and Elem offices.

 

GUIDANCE:

Senior girls:  If you are interested in engineering, PurdueUniversity Women in Engineering Program is sponsoring a free daylong event called Seniors Exploring Engineering at Purdue, Monday, October 20th from 8 to 4:30.  Registration deadline is Oct. 12th.  If you would like more info stop by guidance.

SPORTS RESULTS/PRACTICES/ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

 

 

Caston boy’s cross country team finished 4th at the North White Invitational with 131 points as a team.  Top finishers for varsity were Seth Cousins in 2nd and Santiago Henderson in 18th.  Other finishers for Caston were 33rd - Darin Chew 20:10; 39th Dalton Daily 20:29; 53rd Graham Rentshcler 21:19; 55th Andrew Smith 21:26; 59th Dawson Oliver 21:53; For Junior Varsity – Jacob Maroney was 3rd and Brant Buczkowski finished 6th.

 

The girls cross country team finished 8th with 173 points. Adrianna Dague: 20:52 - 5th place; Evelynn Byrum:  25:07 - 38th place; Sidney Berry:  26:28 - 48th place; Hannah Cousins: 26:40 - 50th place; Krysta Schanluab: 30:22 - 62nd place; & Sabrina Nice: 30:24 - 63rd place.

 

The Caston JH cross country team ran at the LaVille Invitational last night.  The boy’s placed 2nd with 43 points.  Placing for the boys were: Mitchell Rans 1st – 12:04; Wyatt Brumett 9th – 14:03; Dakota Oldfather 15 – 14:26; Noah Colvin 17th – 14:28; Brock Buczkowski 31st – 15:43.

 

The girls JH team finished 2nd place with 44 points with the following girls finishing for Caston: McKenzie Paschen 4th – 14:35; Aubrey Dague 6th 14:46; Jasmine Rudicel 11th – 15:58; Lauren Moss 21st – 16:44; Sarah Mangelsdorf 31st 19:44.

 

The CassCounty Community Foundation is hosting a Football Food Drive at Caston this Friday, August 29th, at the Varsity Football game.  Bring food for your local food pantry and take home a rally towel!
