SPRING BREAK NEXT WEEK MARCH 23 – 27.

 

Seniors, if you are applying for the Fulton Co. REMC scholarship, the application needs to be mailed from guidance TODAY.  Please turn it in as soon as possible.

 

Reminder: Junior High track practice starts Monday, March 30th, the Monday we get back from break.

 

There will be a 5K run & 1 Mile Walk for Brain Cancer Awareness on Saturday, May 16th, at 9:00 am at the Twelve Mile Fire Station.  Deadline for early registration is April 25th.  Race Day registration is avaialbe from 8:00 – 9:00 am.  Registration forms with detailed information are available in the HS office.  You can also register online at www.bca-run.com.

 

NJHS members who have not given Mrs. Tierney your shirt money needs to do so ASAP.

 

Cheerleader tryout dates have been scheduled for the week after Spring Break.  See the hall signs for dates and times.

 

Paige's Music is having a competition on Facebook for which school can get the most votes. If we win, the band will win $500 and Mr. Byrn will dye his hair blue. To vote, visit the Paige's Music Facebook page and vote for Caston. 

 

There will be another Open Mic Night at the Rochester Public Library TONIGHT at 6:00 pm.  All sorts of talents are welcome.  It’s a very relaxed and fun evening.  If you have questions, you can send an email to Brant Gerald at brandgerald@gmail.com

 

We have coupons in the high school office for $40 off a tuxedo rental from the Rochester Greenhouse.

 

Twelve Mile First Responders will be hosting a pancake and sausage breakfast from 7:00 – 10:00 am on March 28th

 

Any student living in the Kewanna area interested in a Kewanna library card should pick up an application from Mrs. Helt.  Applications should be turned in at the library.

 

Coach Burrus is awaiting students to sign up for the Indiana All Star Driving School online.  The driver's education program is available to all students 15-years or older and you must have a permit to sign up!  Online classes will start immediately, for more information pick up a flyer or talk to Coach Burrus!

The journalism staff would love to put your pictures into the yearbook!  Upload your pictures to RePlayit so you can be in the yearbook!

If anyone is interested in guitar lessons given locally – you can contact Pat Burns @ 574-727-1414.

(This year the National Honor Society will be holding an aluminum tab drive--this includes pop tabs as well as soup can pull tabs.  All profits will go to the Ronald McDonald House. Please turn in tabs to your 7th hour class; there will be prizes awarded at the end of each nine weeks for top-collecting classes. This collection will last all year, so bring in your tabs whenever you can! Your 7th hour teacher has more info about the collection competition if you have questions! )

 

GUIDANCE:

 

Senator Dan Coats and Congressman Todd Rokita are hosting Academy day on Saturday, April 18th at 9:00 am at the Lafayette National Guard Armory in Lafayette.  Any students that would like more information about Military Academies such as West Point, the Naval & Air Force Academies or the Merchant Marine Academy should attend.  A congressional nomination is necessary to attend one of these academies and this is a good opportunity to gain information and learn helpful tips about the process.  For more information please check with guidance. 

 

There will be a presentation and tour of Indiana University’s Dental Assisting Program on Saturday, April 11th in Indianapolis.  For more information please stop by guidance.

 

Any sophomore student interested in applying for the FCYLA - Fulton County Youth Leadership Academy may pick up an application in Guidance.  The deadline is April 20th.

 

Grace College welcomes all high school students to learn more about their 9% tuition reduction and free textbooks for all students at Grace College during one of their spring campus visit days on Thursday, March 26, and Friday, April 10. The Purdue Women in Engineering Program would like to invite Junior girls to a FREE daylong engineering program called Juniors Exploring Engineering at Purdue (JEEP). The event will be held on Monday, April 13th.  For more information and registration info please see guidance.

 

IUK will host a “Visit In Person” Day on Tuesday, April 28th.  If interested in attending stop by guidance for information on registering.

 

Juniors:  On July 15th – 17th the Indianapolis Division of the FBI will host the FBI Youth Leadership Academy (YLA).  The YLA is designed to promote an educational experience that will provide students with valuable leadership training and a greater understanding of the FBI.  The Academy is a three day, two night residential event hosted at Bradford Woods, Indiana University’s learning center in Mooresville, IN.  Students must arrange their own transportation. However, there is no cost for students to participate and all lodging and meals are included.  For more information and application information please stop by guidance. The deadline for applications is April 1st.
